Rosewood Sea Grass Tunnel Review
Product: Rosewood Boredom Breaker Small Animal Activity Sea Grass Tunnel, Medium
Measurements: 25cm by 14cm diameter
This is a complete natural product, made from seagrass and rattan. Guinea pigs will love to chew and hide in the tunnel, when they get older, maybe not be too interested in chewing. When you first take this out of the packaging, it smells lovely, with being a natural item. The medium size will fit them perfectly or you can go for the larger one, but obviously it just takes up more room.
I have had mine for a bit of time now, so they do last, depending on what your guinea pigs are like. Mine has been eaten a fair amount. Just need to replace it when it has been eaten a lot, as the sticks may poke them in the eyes, but they are usually wise to that. Also, it may need at times pushing back into the round shape so they can fit inside again. After some use, the round shape will get flatter and therefore won’t roll around all over the place on a flat surface. There were times where mine would inside the tunnel push the inside of the tunnel up with their head, quite funny to watch. They are just putting it back into place 🙂
Recap on the pros and cons 🙂
Pros
- Natural
- Serves a few purposes
Cons
- Looses its round shape because of its more flexible materials after being eaten
Its just an ideal item for them, the use may decline as I said when they get older, but its another place that can be available for them to hide in. When mine were younger, large chunks of the tunnel were eaten and I had to get a new one after a couple of months. It will keep the teeth in good shape and provide enrichment for a certain period of time. Tunnels are one of the best products for guinea pigs to use and they are usually quite cheap to buy. There are many currently on the market, made up of various materials like cardboard. The better ones are where they are edible.
Remember its good to vary the hiding places you use for example inside their playpen. Provide more than one tunnel or other hideys, to prevent squabbling.
